Without writing down one instruction, Jesus left human’s hope of eternal life with three sets of brothers who grew up in a small fishing village, (and six friends).
THEY HAD AT LEAST ONE FULL YEAR OF FOLLOWING THIS TEACHER AND HEALER (WHO NEVER SEEMED TO ANSWER A QUESTION DIRECTLY)… HOW COULD THIS PLAN NOT WORK?
At his trial after he told stories in response to everyone’s questions, he was silent.
-
When high priest says, “I formally ask you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God”
-
Jesus replies, “If I tell you, you won’t believe, and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go. You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the power of God, and coming on the clouds of the sky.”
-
They all said, “Are you then the Son of God?”
-
He said to them, “You say it, because… I-AM”
That’s when everyone knew… he was going to die. In that moment; the seed of Truth began to split open.
However, it wasn’t until Steven’s murder (the first martyr) that everyone realized how crazy “The Way” of Christianity really is. A core doctrine of our belief is that we cannot lie about knowing Christ, or he will disown us before God. While Christianity’s first martyr was being murdered,
-
Steven looked up into the sky and said, “Look, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”
That’s when everyone knew… he was going to die too. As he knelt down, being peppered with stones,
-
Stephen cried loudly, “Lord, don’t hold this wrong against them! They don’t know what they’re doing.“
There are pieces of Christianity which are easy to imitate, but love’s core of selfless service and forgiveness is impossible to fake.
A few centuries later (when power was really starting to get into bed with the church), over 1,500 church leaders representing over 300 church communities met in a town called Nicea, to come up with a commonly held and clear baseline of belief across Christian communities. (We call it the Nicene Creed).
This Creed still stands today:
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, Maker of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Ruler, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally born of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, fathered, not made, consubstantial of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us humans and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his standard will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Owner, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy universal and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
Long before that gathering at Nicea, Paul wrote a shorter (but brilliant) description of the fruit that will grow out of the Spirit of Truth – offering:
“The fruit of the spirit is love.
- Joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control have no laws written against them.”
The best foundation of this community of Truth was spoken by Christ in the temple:
A priest asked, “which is the greatest commandment?”
- Jesus answered him,”The greatest is, ‘listen my people; the Lord our God is one. You are to love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first and greatest commandment
- A second is like this; you are to love your neighbor like you love yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.”
If we have love for each other, everyone will know that we are Christ’s disciples.
It is simple enough for a child to understand, but so difficult that after a long life – we can still only hope to be beginning to reflect this pattern of perfection.

DEDUCTIONS FROM OBSERVATIONS
THROUGHOUT HUMAN HISTORY, WE’VE PLACED OURSELVES AT THE CENTER OF “EVERYTHING”… And; we have typically been incorrect in that placement. TO THINK OF THIS BIOLOGICAL UNIVERSE AS ONE OF MANY “BIG BANGS” IS MOST LIKELY CLOSER TO REALITY. Deduction following the scientific method is no more perfect than any other world-view, but we do haveContinue reading “DEDUCTIONS FROM OBSERVATIONS”

ARCHAEOLOGY
Most every factual story has some type of archaeological foundation. The thing we seem to get hung up on is the celebrity mythology attached to each story. “Myth is the smoke of history. It may take a good bit of work to fan it into flame, but it is best when you see smoke… toContinue reading “ARCHAEOLOGY”

SCIENTIFIC OBSERVATION OVERVIEW
TRUTH IS SEGMENTED BY METHOD OF OBSERVATION AND/OR DEDUCTION USED TO GATHER THE INFORMATION. We are in the beginning of the 6th mass extinction of species that this planet has experienced. It may be wise to try and figure out what happened the last five times… maybe?!? The blue graph shows the apparent percentage (notContinue reading “SCIENTIFIC OBSERVATION OVERVIEW”

DEAD SEA SCROLLS – 2000 YEAR OLD TEXT MATCHING THE BIBLE
The initial discovery of the first of these “Dead Sea Scrolls” was being examined by a Jewish scholar while the United Nations was voting for the Jewish people to live in Abraham’s promised land (under their own rule)… for the first time since the destruction of the Jerusalem’s Temple – in 70 AD! The Dead SeaContinue reading “DEAD SEA SCROLLS – 2000 YEAR OLD TEXT MATCHING THE BIBLE”

Daniel Part 1 – Let the reader understand
Having just completed a project requiring over a decade of research on the four Gospels of Jesus, there is one point in Matthew and Mark which has been festering in my mind for years. At the same point in these two of the gospel stories that both writers specifically direct, “let the reader understand.” And…Continue reading “Daniel Part 1 – Let the reader understand”

Jesus fan fiction 20 – John the Baptist story from Luke 3, spoken from the perspective of a patriotic Roman
I remember feeling the sticky on the bottom of my feet with each step as I left our city’s stadium with my parents explaining (again) that every culture across time has included people shouting that God’s judgment is coming, just like the man yelling at us. The people they claim to be doomed are notContinue reading “Jesus fan fiction 20 – John the Baptist story from Luke 3, spoken from the perspective of a patriotic Roman”

They say God’s coming?
Many Americans are new to dealing with the scare tactics which religious, fear-based leaders use to solidify their position of power by using “the world is ending… are you ready?” Remember, these people use this tactic to make money and feel powerful… nothing else. Anyone who claims they have an inside track on whenContinue reading “They say God’s coming?”

CHRISTIAN SCRIPTURES
“The Bible” (“tà biblía“) is Koine Greek for, “the books” (?? ??????)[1][a], and it is a collection of sacred texts or “scriptures”. MOSES’ FIVE (5) BOOKS: Christian scholars usually refer to the first five books of the “Old Testament” (a.k.a. the Hebrew Bible) as the ‘Pentateuch’ (Greek: ???????????, pentáteuchos, translates to English as ‘five scrolls’). This is aContinue reading “CHRISTIAN SCRIPTURES”

HIDDEN BOOKS – APOCRYPHA
The biblical apocrypha (from the Greek ?????????, apókruphos, meaning “hidden”) references the collection of ancient christian books. APOCRYPHA BOOKS: Although the term apocrypha had been in use since the 5th century, it was in Luther’s Bible of 1534 that the Apocrypha was first published as a separate intertestamental section. Books like the MacccabeesContinue reading “HIDDEN BOOKS – APOCRYPHA”
