Back in his new home town…
It felt like the whole town was waiting on the beach for Jesus. Then the unbelievable happened, a community church ruler, named Jairus, fell down at Jesus feet… worshiping him, and begging for his 12 year old daughter’s life. He told Jesus, “Please! Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made healthy, and live.”
Jesus got up, and followed with him. On the way, while the crowd pressed all around, Jesus asked, “Who touched my clothes?” When everyone denied it, and pointed out that everyone was touching him, he insisted, “Someone did touch me, because I perceived that power has gone out of me.” Everyone denied it, until the bouncing eye contact rest on a woman with the look of someone caught in the act.
It was illegal for her to be in public, and she fell down trembling in front of him (knowing what had been done for her). She explained in front of everyone that for 12 years she had a flow of blood that could not be stopped. She suffered from physicians and salesmen, but only grew worse… until she was broke. “If I just touch his clothes,” she thought, “I will be made well.” Jesus replied, “Daughter, cheer up! Your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be cured of your disease.” 
While he was talking, people from the ruler’s staff showed up saying, “Your daughter is dead; Why bother the teacher at this point?” But Jesus, heard it and immediately answered the ruler, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.” Arriving at the house, we saw an uproar.
Jewish mourning is not a passive activity. Mourning was a trade. The first stage of Jewish mourning was from death until burial, and was named, “Intense Mourning.” People in this stage of grief were considered to be so consumed with total shock and disbelief, that they were exempt from following many commandments in the law.
He walked into the great wailing, and said to them, “Why do you make an uproar and weep? Don’t weep. The child is not dead, but is asleep. Only believe, and she will be healed.” They ridiculed him. He put all the crowd outside, and only let the girl’s parents, Peter, James, John (James brother) follow him to where the child was lying.
He held the girl’s hand, and called her; saying, “Girl, I tell you, get up!” Her spirit returned, and immediately the girl got up and walked! A word like amazement can’t come close to the effect of watching someone who was dead… walking around. Jesus strictly ordered them to not tell anyone what had been done, and mentioned that it would be good to give her something to eat.
As Jesus passed by, two blind men followed him – calling out,
“Have mercy on us, son of David!” Entering the house, they approached to him. Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They told him, “Yes, Lord.” Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.” Their eyes were opened, and Jesus strictly commanded them to see that no one knows about this… but they spread his fame everywhere.
As they left, a mute man was brought to him.
When the mute man spoke, some marveled that nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel! Those whose power was threatened by him claimed that he was working for God’s enemy.
