While he was in one of the cities, behold a man full of leprosy (when he saw Jesus) knelt down to him and fell on his face, saying, “Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.” Being moved with compassion, he stretched out his hand and touched him, and said to him, “I want to, be made clean.” When he had said this, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. He commanded him to tell no one, “See that you say nothing to anybody. But go your way and show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing the things that Moses commanded for a testimony to them.” He strictly warned him and immediately sent him out.
But he went out and began to proclaim it much and to spread about the matter – so that Jesus could no more openly enter into a city. The report concerning him spread much more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. But he withdrew himself and prayed outside in desert places, and they came to him from everywhere.
