He went out from there. Coming into his own country, his disciples followed him. When the Sabbath had come, he began to teach them in their synagogue, so that many were astonished, and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom… such mighty works come about by his hands? Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother called Mary, and his brothers, James, Joses, Simon, and Judah? Aren’t all of his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all of these things?”
They were offended by him, but Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country… among his own relatives… and in his own house.” He could do no mighty works there because of their unbelief… except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. He marveled because of their unbelief. He went around the villages teaching.
