The apostles, when they had returned, gathered themselves together to Jesus and told him all things (whatever they had done, and whatever they had taught). Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done, and was very perplexed because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead… and by some that Elijah had appeared… and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again. Herod said, “I beheaded John, but who is this about whom I hear such things?” He sought to see him.
Jesus said to them, “You come apart into a deserted place, and rest awhile.” (For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.) He took them and withdrew apart in the boat to a deserted place of a city called Bethsaida by themselves.
