They traveled throughout the villages,
announcing the good news for us to turn from knowingly doing wrong to to be forgiven of those wrongs. They healed people everywhere.
Having returned…
The Sent-ones told about everything they had done! …having cast out many false-accusers, and sick people were healed (without Jesus being there). They told him everything… whatever they had done… and whatever they had taught.
This caught King Herod’s attention.
He was heard saying, “John the Baptizer has risen from the dead,” and “that’s why these powers are working through him.” Some guessed that Jesus was Elijah, others said a prophet, or “like one of the prophets.” However Herod, when he heard this, said, “This is John, whom I beheaded. He has come back from the dead.”
By this point, people were everywhere… at all hours… coming and going… to the point that they didn’t even have time to eat.
After hearing their stories, Jesus said to them,
“You guys leave here, and find a place without people and rest awhile.”
They went away in the boat to a desolate place by themselves.
Soon afterwards, he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him. Now when he came near to the gate of the city, behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city were with her. When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, “Don’t cry.” He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I tell you, arise!”
He who was dead sat up, and began to speak.
And he gave him to his mother.
Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has visited his people!” This report went out concerning him in the whole of Judea, and in all the surrounding region.
